Case Study 1: I arranged an initial wedding meeting with a couple to show them around the hotel – future mother in law came too! They had stayed with us before and fell in love with the hotel so decided that Cotswolds88 is the perfect place for them.
We sat down and talked about how they see their day, what they like and dislike, what they would like to eat and drink – got to know them a little – also got to know mother in laws likes and dislikes too - not sure whose wedding day it's going to be!
A couple of weeks later they ring me and arrange stay for the weekend and sample some of our delicious menu options ready for the big day. All sorted menu and wine chosen.
Things start moving quickly as the big day approaches – theme of the wedding agreed, marquee booked, photographer booked, florist booked, beautician booked.
With only weeks to go they decide to change part of the menu so it's back to the drawing board – another tasting session booked in – menu has been agreed and mothers happy too, chefs a little stressed as its extra work!
It's the week before the wedding, and yes the bride is a little stressed as I have been a nightmare to get hold of and I am a little unorganised – I can say that but no-one else can! I'm running here, there and everywhere getting the napkins made, changing the seating plan again, the bride (mother in law) have requested some unusual gifts for close family who are staying at the hotel and I do everything I can to make sure that the wedding day is perfect and it will be the best day of the bride and grooms (and their guests) lives.
The day arrives and the hotel is buzzing with excitement, champagne flowing in the 88 suite where the bride and her bridesmaids are getting ready with an entourage of hair and make-up artists. Guests arrive, The Registrar arrives oh dear I forgot to reserve a parking space – not off to the best start and what can I say the bride walks down the stairs and looks beautiful.
The day went without a hiccup, as I said I may be a little unorganised but I'm sure you will agree it's the end result that counts.
Case Study 2: I took an enquiry from a lovely young couple who have just got engaged and were very excited about getting married. I arranged to meet them and show them around the hotel – they were blown away with the hotel decoration as they wanted something different from their friend's recent wedding and as you will see Cotswolds88 is very unique.
After talking through how they wanted their day to be, how many people they were inviting, if they had a theme or particular idea and finding out more about them – they left and I sent costs and some suggestions about their day.
A couple of weeks later they contact me and ask if they could book a room so they can experience the hotel and the food. Not a problem, I arrange for them to have a taste of the food that they think they would like for their wedding breakfast – what can I say – Chef did an exceptional job and the menu has been chosen – they haven't even signed at this stage!
The following week, the paperwork signed, deposit paid and the ball starts moving. Time starts to pass very quickly and I've now arranged florists, photographer, wedding cars and even flight upgrades on Virgin!
Everything is going to plan as I like to be well organised and have been referred to as a swan – calm on top but paddling like mad to make sure everything goes without a hitch!
The wedding day arrives, the hotel staff did a brilliant job making sure that the room looked perfect, so perfect the bride burst into tears and it was chaos - call in the makeup artists and more mascara. After the ceremony the staff transformed the 88 room into a beautiful candlelit room ready for the wedding breakfast.
Everyone had a fantastic day and we helped make some very special memories.
